Self-Paced Online Class

Select Driving School offers a state approved online class. This course satisfies the 30-hours of curriculum required by Minnesota state law to be eligible for driver's permit test. Upon completion of the online course, students will receive a course completion form that can be used to register for behind the wheel instruction. Once registered for behind the wheel instruction, students will be issued a "blue card", which is required to take the Minnesota state permit test.

The benefit of our online class is that students can complete the coursework at their own pace and choose their own schedule (within the limitations listed below). Although this self-guided class does not have an in-person instructor, students can email questions to a Select Driving School instructor and receive timely responses at any point while working through the course.

Course Requirements:

  • Students must complete the 30-hour course within 90 days of registration.
  • No more than 3 hours / 3 lessons of coursework can be completed in a single day. Plan for at least 10 days to complete the course.

Tips for Success in the Online Class

Take time to focus on class. This should not be something you play in the background while you are doing other things. Driving is a job that needs your full focus, so give your coursework your full focus as well. If you feel that you are losing focus during a lesson, take a short break and return to the lesson when you are able to give it your full attention. Take notes and  find a quiet space to complete the lessons.
